On arrival transfer to hotel. After refreshing visit Ellora Caves ( Closed on Tuesdays ) which is approx. 29 kms. The world heritage listed cave temples of Ellora, are the pinnacle of Deccan rock- cut architecture temples of Ellora depict the Hindu, Buddhist and Jain faiths, and were constructed between the 5th and 8th centuries A.D. and Daulatabad Fort is the magnificient hilltop fortress of Daulatabad. It was an old Hindu stronghold, finally captured and plundered by deceit in the 13th century . The Fort is surrounded by 5 Kms. of sturdy walls, while the central bastion tops a 200m high hill, which was originally known as Devagiri, the Hill of the Gods. Important monuments within the fort include the Jami Masjid now the Bharat Mata Mandir, the Chand Minar, Elephant Tank and Chini Mahal or Chinese Palace. Visit city tour which includes Grishneshwar Temple Worshippers of Shiva flock to the Ghrishneshwar Temple, of particular importance since it enshrines a jyotirlinga. Overnight at Hotel Day 02 : Aurangabad / Ajanta Caves Breakfast and excursion to Ajanta Caves ( Closed on Mondays ) which is approx. 102 Kms 3 hrs. drive. The Buddhist caves of Ajanta date from around 200 bC to AD 650, predating those at Ellora. As Ellora developed and Buddhism gradually declined, the Ajanta caves were abandoned and eventually forgotten. But in 1890 a British hunting party stumbled upon them, and their remote beauty was soon unveiled. Their isolation contributed to the fine state of preservation in which some of their remarkable paintings remain to this day. Ajanta is listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Overnight at Hotel. Day 03 : Aurangabad / Lonar Crater Breakfast and proceed for excursion to Lonar Crater which is about 140 Kms. is a huge meteorite crater was first discovered in 1823 by British officer, J.E. Alexander. It is also written about in ancient scripts like the Skanda Puran, the Padma Puran and the Aaina-i-Akbari. When a 2 million-ton meteorite impacted the earth to create a depression 1.83 kilometers in diameter and 170 m deep. Believed to be about 50,000 years old, with the shallow at the bottom. A plaque at the rim states that it is the only natural hyper velocity impact crater is basaltic rock in the world. Scientists suspect that the meteor is still embedded about 600m below the south-eastern rim of the crater. There are several Hindu temples on the crater floor, and the langur monkeys, peacocks, gazelles and an array of birds inhabit the bushes by the lake. You can spend an enjoyable afternoon wandering around here. Evening back to hotel. Overnight at Hotel Day 04 : Aurangabad After breakfast check-out from the hotel and drive to airport/railway station for your onward journey.
