India Wildlife Tour

Owing to diverse variations in geography, climate and vegetation; India offers an exciting variety of habitats to its wildlife. Housing over 75 national parks and 425 wildlife sanctuaries, this country of diversities can prove to be a real paradise to the wildlife lovers with 4.5% of its total geographic area being covered by wildlife preserves.

More than 500 species of mammals, over 2000 species of birds, around 30000 species of insects and over 500 species of reptiles comprise of a vast fauna of the country that includes Tigers, one-Horned Rhinoceros, Asiatic Lion, Elephant, Leopards, Snow Leopards, Red Panda, Sloth Bears, Nilgai, Gharial and various Species of Deer and Monkeys. A variety of avifauna is also found in abundance here. More than hundred species of birds can be spotted across India some of which are Pheasant, Griffon, Vulture, Egrets, Herons, Storks, Cormorants, Hornbill, Pigeon and Ravens. Apart from these, the country also serves as a potential migratory for hundreds of bird species from all over the globe.

With such a vast variety of wildlife, the Indian government has taken several appreciative measures to protect this natural heritage. Various wildlife sanctuaries and national parks are founded to offer an ideal habitata and breeding ground to the erstwhile endangered species of Indian wildlife, suffering ecological imbalances that arose due to destructive human activities such as farming, lumber activities and hydel projects.
